Future Generation Collaborative Environments in Oil & Gas

Statoil, Norway's largest company invited us to assist them to assess future methods of communication and collaboration between onshore and offshore operations as well as investigate more efficient methods of building collaboration rooms throughout the organisation.

Initially this involved a concept study to develop new out of the box ideas to address an area that needed new ideas. 

This comprised:
  • Innovation workshops
  • Stakeholder consultation
  • Existing methodology assessment
  • Concepts development and proposal

This was followed by a substantial program of:
  • Technology assessment
  • Market due diligence
  • Creation of RFI and RFQ documents
  • Development of a blueprint for next generation collaborative environment in the oil & gas sector
  • Conducting technology visits to major suppliers worldwide
  • Supplier negotiation assistance support of selection process for appropriate technologies
  • Project management of design and construction of the 'CoLab' in Bergen
  • Managed operation of the lab to run test and evaluation program

Project Outcomes

  • A future design and methodology for collaborative working environments
  • Adoption of specific technologies from the program into operations
  • An thorough understanding of viable approaches and key technologies for future adoption
